Łódź Voivodeship celebrates traditional harvest festivals

Harvest festivals (Dożynki) were celebrated across the Łódź Voivodeship and Tomaszów County in Poland. In Zelów, festivities at the Patyki Reservoir included a colorful parade, traditional dishes, and a concert by Maryla Rodowicz.

During the Zelów celebrations, a competition for the most beautiful harvest wreath was held. The Rural Housewives' Club (KGW) from Obrow won first place with a 180 cm tall crown made from various grains and seeds. In the culinary competition, the KGW from Buczek took first prize for their dish of pork cheeks with strawberries.

In the Tomaszów County celebrations held in Telatyn, local officials and clergy led ceremonies including a thanksgiving Mass and the blessing of bread and wreaths. The event featured wreath competitions in both traditional and contemporary categories. The KGW from Niemirów-Kolonia won first place in the traditional category, while the KGW from Rokitno took first place in the contemporary category.
