D-Wave Quantum Named IDC MarketScape Leader as Commercial Use Surges

D-Wave Quantum (NYSE: QBTS) was recognized as a Leader in the 2026 IDC MarketScape assessment for quantum computing vendors, joining only one other company in the top category. The designation reflects the firm’s expanding commercial footprint across manufacturing, telecommunications, logistics and defense, with customers submitting more than 200 million problems to its systems. Usage of D‑Wave’s Advantage2 platform rose 314% year‑on‑year and activity on its Stride hybrid solver increased 114% over the past six months, underscoring growing enterprise demand for practical quantum solutions. CEO Alan Baratz said the recognition validates the company’s focus on real‑world applications and its dual‑platform strategy that now combines quantum‑annealing and gate‑model computing following the acquisition of Quantum Circuits Inc. in early 2026. In fiscal 2025 D‑Wave reported $24.6 million in revenue, a net loss of $355.1 million, a debt‑to‑equity ratio of 0.1x and a current ratio of 42.4x, highlighting the high‑cost, high‑growth nature of the emerging quantum sector.
