Łódź mother charged with abusing 5-month-old son
A 31-year-old woman from the Widzew district of Łódź has been charged with abusing her 5-month-old son with particular cruelty. The infant is currently hospitalized with broken arms and a leg. While the mother claimed the injuries occurred during diaper changes, medical professionals stated the injuries were the result of violence.
The incident came to light on August 26, after an acquaintance of the mother contacted emergency services via 112, reporting that the mother had admitted to harming the child. Police located the woman at a hospital and identified her residence in Widzew. During the investigation, police also detained the child's 32-year-old father, who was wanted on a separate warrant issued by the District Court for Łódź-Śródmieście.
The suspect faces up to 10 years in prison. A court has placed the woman under police supervision rather than granting a request for temporary arrest. The family court will now determine the future placement and care of the child.
