D1 highway incidents involve high levels of alcohol impairment

Police reports from the D1 highway highlight several dangerous incidents involving driving under the influence of alcohol. In one notable case from September 2023 near Brno, a 33-year-old foreign national driving a green truck attempted to enter the highway in the wrong direction. The driver, who recorded a blood alcohol content of 4.1 per mille, blocked traffic for several dozen seconds and struck guardrails before stopping near Domašov.

Another significant incident occurred in December 2022 near Benešov, where a driver operated a van in the wrong direction for 32 kilometers. Police managed to intercept the vehicle after coordinating with other motorists, including a truck driver who blocked both lanes to assist in the stoppage.
