D1 motorway near Ostrava closed after multi-car collision and fire

A multi-vehicle accident occurred on the D1 motorway near the Klimkovice exit in the direction from Ostrava to Brno. The collision involved three passenger cars and was reportedly caused by an attempt to overtake.

Following the impact, two of the vehicles caught fire. Firefighters managed to localize the blaze within five minutes of arrival and completed extinguishing the fire shortly after. Four individuals sustained injuries and were treated by emergency medical services; according to regional paramedics, the injuries were reported to be minor.

The accident caused significant traffic disruptions, with vehicle queues reaching approximately eight kilometers in length. The D1 motorway was completely closed in the direction of Brno, forcing police to divert traffic to alternative routes.
