D55 highway construction near Přerov delayed by tender objection
Construction of a critical six-kilometer section of the D55 highway between Kokory and Přerov has been delayed due to an objection filed against the selection of the contractor. The Road and Motorway Directorate (ŘSD) had previously selected a consortium consisting of FIRESTA-Fišer, rekonstrukce, stavby a. s., OHLA ŽS, a. s., VALCANO a. s., and Duna Aszfalt Zrt. with a bid of 1.64 billion CZK excluding VAT.
While the project was originally expected to begin by the end of this year, updated information from ŘSD now indicates a start date in 2027, with completion projected for 2029. The objection prevents the signing of the contract and must be resolved, potentially through the Office for the Protection of Competition (ÚOHS).
The project involves building a nearly six-kilometer four-lane highway, including seven bridges and two noise barriers. Once completed, the section will connect the Olomouc-Kokory stretch to the D1 motorway, providing a complete highway network for Přerov and reducing traffic through Kokory and Žeravice.
