Día de los Muertos exhibitions celebrate Mexican art and heritage

Various cultural institutions are hosting exhibitions to celebrate Día de los Muertos. The Walker's Point Center for the Arts is presenting its 34th annual exhibition, titled ‘Embracing Community,’ which runs from October 16 to December 4, 2025. The event focuses on themes of migration, memory, and the ways culture and ritual create a sense of belonging across borders.

Additionally, an exhibition marking 40 years of Día de los Muertos traditions opens on September 25. This showcase utilizes permanent collections to trace the evolution of the holiday and the preservation of Mexican art. The exhibition honors the legacy of Dr. Gilberto Cárdenas, a scholar and pioneer of Chicano Studies, who advocated for the importance of art in honoring Mexican, Chicana/o, and Latinx histories.
