Da Nang and Hanoi announce new urban and environmental development plans

Da Nang is advancing a digital transformation scheme for the 2026-2030 period, aiming for a smart city orientation by 2035. Vice Chairman Ho Quang Buu stated the city intends to build an AI-driven city, focusing on semiconductor microchips, artificial intelligence, and the implementation of a Digital Twin to create a living digital replica of the urban area for data-driven governance.

Key initiatives include cleaning and enriching national and specialized databases regarding residency, land, education, and taxation. The city is also prioritizing the development of a low-altitude economy, a smart free trade zone, and an international financial center.

In Hanoi, a pilot program for a green and circular socialist commune/ward model will be implemented in Phuc Thinh and Thu Lam communes from 2026 to 2030. This initiative focuses on agriculture and environmental protection to address land issues and stabilize livelihoods during urbanization. Success will be measured through quantitative indicators such as air quality, water quality, waste treatment rates, and green space area.
