Da Nang approved master plan for development through 2050
The Vietnamese government has approved a master plan for Da Nang City, outlining development goals through 2050 with a long-term vision toward 2075. The plan aims to transform Da Nang into a modern, smart, and ecological coastal city that serves as a major national growth pole and a regional hub for Southeast Asia.
Key objectives for 2050 include establishing the city as a center for startups, innovation, logistics, the marine economy, finance, and digital transformation. The city will focus on green growth and climate change adaptation while maintaining national defense and maritime sovereignty. Strategic infrastructure developments include the creation of a Da Nang Free Trade Zone, an international cargo transshipment hub via its seaport and airport systems, and a Vietnam International Financial Center.
By 2075, the vision is for Da Nang to join the group of Asia’s leading cities with distinctive identities, gradually meeting the criteria of a special municipality. The city is intended to act as a gateway connecting the Greater Mekong Subregion with ASEAN and the global market.
