Da Nang bans heavy trucks on National Highway 14D
The Da Nang Department of Construction has announced a ban on heavy vehicles, specifically those with four or more axles and ore-carrying trucks, from traveling on National Highway 14D. The restriction is set to take effect at 0:00 on October 10, 2026, and will remain in place until the ongoing renovation and upgrade project is completed.
The upgrade project involves a total investment of 4,518 billion VND and is expected to be finished in 2027. Authorities noted that heavy traffic, particularly ore transport, has caused significant road deterioration, creating hazardous conditions such as slippery surfaces during rain and heavy dust during dry periods. The ban aims to ensure safety on steep mountain passes and prevent traffic congestion that could impede emergency services, such as medical transport for patients and pregnant women.
Exceptions to the ban include vehicles transporting essential goods for local residents, rescue and relief vehicles, and those serving the construction project or local boarding schools, provided they possess valid documentation. Ore carriers are advised to use alternative routes or transfer loads to smaller vehicles with a capacity of less than 25 tons.
