Da Nang expands rental apartments to relieve hotel shortage
Da Nang’s tourism authority reports that hotels frequently operate at near‑full capacity, prompting a surge in the construction of short‑term rental apartments, especially in the Ngũ Hành Sơn district. New buildings of 10–20 rooms each have appeared rapidly along the coast to accommodate visitors when hotel rooms are unavailable.
The city welcomed more than 5 million international tourists in the first half of the year. Officials say the expansion of both state‑backed and private housing aims to sustain tourism growth, prevent “room‑burnout,” and comply with lodging regulations. Apartments are typically rented for around 10 million VND (≈ US$425) per month, appealing to repeat business travelers and tourists who prefer self‑catering and local immersion. Da Nang’s strategy focuses on retaining a high‑end market segment that accounts for roughly 10 % of total visitors while also meeting demand from budget‑conscious travelers.
