Da Nang launches specialized flood rescue and disaster response training

The Da Nang Military Command has launched a specialized training program to enhance disaster response and search and rescue capabilities in flood-prone areas. Between August 25 and October 20, 284 personnel—including officers, soldiers, and local militia—are undergoing training to obtain inland waterway vehicle operator certificates.

The curriculum covers waterway traffic laws, vehicle maneuvering, docking techniques, and emergency rescue operations under complex weather conditions. This initiative aims to ensure that local forces can quickly and technically proficiently deploy vehicles to assist citizens in isolated or flooded regions.

To support these efforts, Da Nang has invested significantly in infrastructure and equipment. This includes 9 billion VND for civil defense training grounds, 21 billion VND for three disaster prevention and search and rescue assembly points, and 12.3 billion VND for specialized equipment. The newly acquired gear includes jet skis, large-scale drones capable of transporting and dropping relief supplies, propulsion units, and rescue boats.
