Da Nang plans 240km urban railway network to connect with Hoi An
Da Nang is researching a comprehensive urban railway network consisting of 16 axes, totaling nearly 240 km. This infrastructure plan aims to connect seaports, free trade zones, the international airport, and the city center with Hoi An, Tam Ky, and Chu Lai Airport.
One priority route under consideration is the connection between Da Nang International Airport, Hoi An, Tam Ky, and Chu Lai Airport. This development follows the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) model, which is expected to expand growth opportunities in southern Da Nang. Officials note that the southern region serves as a vital link to Dien Ban, Hoi An, and Chu Lai, driven by logistics, high-tech industry, and eco-tourism.
Urban planners suggest the metro system will reduce road traffic pressure and facilitate the formation of new urban corridors. Real estate projects like Newtown Diamond, located along the Da Nang-Hoi An coastal axis near the Legend Danang Golf Resort and Sheraton Grand Danang Beach Resort, are positioned to benefit from this increased connectivity and regional economic integration.
