Da Nang police conduct large‑scale drug tests in residential blocks and luxury towers
On the early morning of 31 July 2026, Da Nang police in the Son Tra district mobilised nearly 150 officers, together with militia and border guard units, to carry out drug‑testing raids across nine apartment blocks. Rapid tests were performed on 22 individuals, revealing five positive cases, including a father and son, who were referred for voluntary rehabilitation and legal processing.
A day later, on 1 August 2026, police in the Hai Chau district deployed about 200 officers to inspect two high‑end residential complexes – Sam Towers and Blooming Towers – where more than 350 foreign residents were staying. Rapid testing identified two foreign nationals (one Chinese, one Indian) positive for ketamine and cannabis respectively. The authorities are compiling case files for prosecution under Vietnamese law.
Both districts said the operations are part of a broader plan to enforce strict residency management, curb illegal drug use, and achieve a “drug‑free ward” in Da Nang by 2028, with weekly testing and surprise inspections to continue.
