Vietnam police detain fraud suspect and singer in separate criminal investigations

Vietnamese authorities have taken action in two high‑profile criminal cases. In Da Nang, police identified and placed a 24‑year‑old suspect, Trần Văn Trường Sơn, under emergency detention for allegedly defrauding more than 1.4 billion VND and using the proceeds to gamble online, with total betting transactions exceeding 14 billion VND.

Separately, Ho Chi Minh City police dismantled a drug‑trafficking network and arrested singer‑songwriter Lê Duy Linh, known as Tăng Nhật Tuệ. He is accused of illegal possession and organization of the use of methamphetamine, amphetamine and MDMA, along with related paraphernalia. The operation seized dozens of drugs, weapons and electronic devices and resulted in the prosecution of 48 individuals, including the singer.

Both investigations underscore a crackdown on financial fraud and illicit drug activities in Vietnam.
