Vietnam authorities launch narcotics crackdowns and market regulations

Authorities in Vietnam are conducting widespread enforcement actions targeting narcotics and market irregularities. In Da Nang, police have launched high-intensity crackdowns, including inspections of internet cafes and food service establishments, resulting in multiple positive drug tests and the seizure of suspected narcotics.

In Hung Yen, police arrested a construction contractor and two workers for attempting to purchase heroin to distribute among workers as a form of payment. Meanwhile, in Da Nang, a sting operation led to the arrest of two individuals for the sale and possession of suspected narcotics near the Han River.

In Hanoi, Chairman Vu Dai Thang issued Directive 20 to stabilize the gold, silver, and foreign exchange markets. The directive mandates increased oversight of gold businesses to prevent money laundering and illegal trading. It specifically instructs tax authorities to inspect at least one gold or silver business per local unit and requires the State Bank and Department of Industry and Trade to monitor market fluctuations and compliance.
