Da Nang police seize 289 canisters of laughing gas

Police in Da Nang, Vietnam, have intercepted a large shipment of laughing gas (nitrous oxide) being prepared for illegal distribution. During an early morning operation on September 8, 2026, the Da Nang Economic Police and Ngu Hanh Son Ward Police caught Nguyen Quynh Anh Phu in the act of transferring canisters from a parked truck to a personal vehicle.

Authorities seized a total of 289 canisters at the scene. Phu admitted to purchasing 480 canisters for 360 million VND from an unidentified supplier in northern Vietnam to resell for profit. He reportedly purchased the gas at 750,000 VND per canister and sold it to customers for 1.4 million VND per canister.
