Da Nang police target major motorbike fraud network

The Cyber Security and High‑Tech Crime Prevention Unit of Da Nang police is investigating a large‑scale fraud scheme that began in September 2024 and has spread from Da Nang to numerous provinces across Vietnam. The operation is led by suspect Ngô Văn Mẫn, who created a fake Facebook account under the name "Nguyễn Thanh Toàn" to post ads for motorbikes at prices far below market value.

When buyers show interest, the fraudsters contact them via Zalo numbers 0905543202 and 0703347563, solicit a small deposit, and then repeatedly request additional payments with fabricated reasons such as paperwork fees or installment costs. After extracting substantial sums, the perpetrators cut off all communication and disappear. Police have issued a public notice urging anyone who fell victim to the scheme to report the incident to the Da Nguyen Police Cyber Security office at 80 Lê Lợi Street or contact Lieutenant Nguyễn Hoài Nam at 0934‑960‑980.
