Da Nang restores M’Nông water trough offering ceremony

The M’Nông ethnic community in Da Nang has restored the traditional water trough offering ceremony to preserve and promote intangible cultural values. This initiative is part of a national target program for the 2026-2035 period, aiming to link cultural heritage preservation with sustainable community tourism in ethnic minority areas.

The ceremony serves as a spiritual ritual to express gratitude to nature and deities for providing water, while praying for favorable weather, abundant water sources, and community prosperity. Beyond its spiritual significance, the restoration aims to raise awareness regarding the protection of headwater forests and clean ecological water sources.

By involving village elders and artisans, the program seeks to ensure the transmission of cultural identity to younger generations and create sustainable livelihoods through community-based tourism.
