DAAD announces 2027 German language summer scholarship

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), funded by Germany’s Federal Foreign Office, has opened applications for its 2027 University Summer Courses. This international scholarship program allows eligible university students and graduates to participate in four-week intensive German language and regional studies programs at participating German higher education institutions.

The scholarship package covers full course costs, accommodation, a €475 allowance, country-specific travel support, and various insurance types. The courses, which take place between June and September 2027, are taught entirely in German and require physical attendance in Germany.

Applications are accepted from September 1, 2026, until October 30, 2026. The program is open to students from various academic disciplines, including engineering, medicine, social sciences, and the arts, provided they have completed at least two years of higher education. Minimum language requirements generally start at level A2, though students in German studies may require level B1.
