Vietnam's Dabaco and Nhà Thủ Đức post contrasting Q2 2026 results
Dabaco reported Q2 2026 revenue of about 4.25 trillion VND, up 11% year‑on‑year, but net profit after tax fell 43% to 289 billion VND, a loss of roughly 218 billion VND versus the same quarter last year. Six‑month figures showed revenue of 8.38 trillion VND (up 13%) while profit declined 35% to 663 billion VND. Gross margin narrowed from around 21.6% to 15.4% as cost growth outpaced revenue, inventory rose and operating cash flow turned negative. The company's shares traded near a one‑year low, down more than 40% from a year earlier. The quarter was also marked by a serious occupational accident at Dabaco’s waste‑treatment facility in Thanh Hóa, where 13 workers were affected, five of whom died from H₂S poisoning.
In contrast, Nhà Thủ Đức posted Q2 2026 revenue of nearly 70 billion VND, almost four times the prior‑year level and the highest since Q4 2022. The core business turned to profit, delivering a net profit of 5.4 billion VND after a loss of 3.7 billion VND a year earlier. Gross profit reached 5.7 billion VND despite higher cost of goods sold, and six‑month revenue rose to 117 billion VND (up 4.5×) with net profit approaching 13 billion VND. Total assets stood at 677.3 billion VND, with cash and equivalents close to 12.8 billion VND.
