Dabo Swinney denies Lane Kiffin aided Ole Miss tampering claims
Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney has denied allegations that LSU coach Lane Kiffin provided intelligence to aid his tampering claims against Ole Miss. The dispute stems from the recruitment of linebacker Luke Ferrelli, who transferred from Cal to Clemson before eventually moving to Ole Miss.
In an upcoming book by sports writer John Talty, titled ‘Lane Being Lane: The Story of Lane Kiffin, College Football’s Agent of Chaos’, it is alleged that Kiffin encouraged Swinney to make the tampering accusations public. Talty also suggests that former Ole Miss coach Matt Luke played a role in thwarting Kiffin’s attempts to assist Clemson in building a case against his former program.
Swinney dismissed these reports, stating that Kiffin had ‘zero’ involvement in the decision to report the matter to the NCAA. Swinney maintained that the decision to report the alleged misconduct was based on evidence gathered at Clemson regarding Ferrelli’s status as an enrolled student, rather than hearsay or outside information.
