Dabola hosts commemorations for Guinea's 68th independence anniversary
In Dabola, Guinea, authorities and citizens have begun activities to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the country's independence. The celebrations, themed ‘Inspiring from the past to build the future together: OUR YOUTH’, officially commenced with a religious ceremony involving the reading of the Holy Quran at a local mosque.
Following the religious opening, a conference was held to discuss the historical significance of September 28. Historians Sidiki Kourouma and Moussa Camara provided insights into the events related to this date and its role in shaping Guinean collective memory. The sessions emphasized the importance of the younger generation understanding national history and embracing republican values.
Colonel Alpha Oumar Cissé, the Prefect of Dabola, presided over the events. He called on the population to prioritize peace, national unity, and social cohesion, noting that these elements are essential foundations for the country's development.
