Dachser acquires Drummond Distribution to expand in Scotland
Logistics company Dachser is expanding its presence in the United Kingdom by acquiring the long-standing Scottish partner Drummond Distribution. This acquisition provides Dachser with its first owned locations in Scotland, strengthening the connection between the region and its European less-than-truckload network.
Drummond Distribution, a family-owned business founded in 1927, has been a partner to Dachser since 2008. The company operates five locations in the Lowlands between Glasgow and Edinburgh, employs approximately 175 people, and reported a turnover of about £20 million last year. The acquisition includes approximately 46,500 square meters of warehouse space and a fleet of roughly 100 trucks and 80 trailers.
The integration is expected to improve access to the European road transport network for export-oriented companies in Scotland. Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics at Dachser, stated that the acquisition strengthens their network in the UK and sets the stage for further growth.
