Dacia faces production risks in Romania amid shifts to Slovenia

An analysis by the Smart Energy Association (AEI) suggests that while Dacia is not currently planning to close its Mioveni plant in Romania, the company faces potential long-term risks regarding production volumes and model allocations. The study indicates a 55% probability that the current generation of models remains in Romania, while a 35% chance exists for production sharing or moving successor models elsewhere. A full withdrawal by 2028–2029 is estimated at a 10% probability.

Separately, Dacia is shifting the production of its electric Spring model from China to Slovenia. The new generation of the Spring will feature increased dimensions, improved range of up to 250 km (WLTP), and an optional fast charger. The vehicle will share a platform with the Renault Twingo E-Tech and is expected to be produced in Slovenia starting in 2026.
