Dacia falls out of Romania's top 20 most profitable companies

Dacia has fallen out of the top 20 most profitable companies in Romania for 2025. While the automaker maintains high turnover, its net profit ranking has declined significantly, a shift that impacts the economy of Argeș County, where the Mioveni plant serves as a primary industrial driver.

In the 2025 profitability rankings, the top positions are dominated by energy and petroleum companies such as Hidroelectrica, Romgaz, and OMV Petrom. Dacia's absence from the top tier highlights a growing gap between business scale and reported net profitability.

Despite these financial shifts, there is speculation regarding the future of the Mioveni facility. Due to the existing Horse Powertrain partnership between Renault and Geely, and the potential for new EU customs duties on Chinese manufacturers, some analysts suggest the plant could eventually host Geely vehicle production. Such a move would leverage the site's established engineering, testing, and logistics infrastructure to help Chinese firms establish a manufacturing presence within Europe.
