Dacia introduces affordable camping car conversion kit

The motorhome market in France remains robust, with nearly 100,000 new or used camping cars sold annually despite inflation and rising fuel costs. The industry is characterized by a divide between high-end German models and more accessible alternatives.

Dacia, a brand under the Renault Group, has introduced an affordable solution to compete in this market. The company offers a kit priced at less than 1,800 euros designed to transform a station wagon into a mobile home.

Beyond manufacturing, the growing popularity of nomadic travel has spurred secondary markets. Some consumers opt for DIY van conversions, utilizing professional one-week training courses that can cost up to 3,000 euros including a kit. This trend has also increased demand for specialized accessories, such as autonomy equipment, location-finding applications, and anti-theft devices, as burglaries of camping cars have risen in isolated areas and highway rest stops.
