Dacia launches hybrid 4×4 powertrain for Duster and Bigster

Dacia has introduced a new Hybrid 150 4×4 system for its Duster SUV and the larger Bigster crossover. The powertrain pairs a turbo‑charged 1.2‑litre three‑cylinder petrol engine, running on a Miller cycle, that drives the front wheels, with a rear‑mounted electric motor delivering up to 87 Nm of torque. The electric motor is equipped with its own two‑speed gearbox and can be disengaged completely when all‑wheel drive is not required, reducing friction and improving efficiency. The system is managed by a six‑speed dual‑clutch automatic transmission and offers five driving modes (Auto, Eco, Snow, Mud/Sand, Lock) to adapt traction to varying conditions.

In the Czech market the Duster starts at 645 900 CZK and the Bigster at 699 900 CZK, while UK on‑road prices are £26 845 for the Duster and £29 265 for the Bigster. Lina Ribeiro, Dacia’s brand director for the UK, said the new hybrid gives customers extra capability without added complexity or cost, allowing electric‑only operation for up to 60 % of city driving and a combined range of up to 1 500 km on a single tank.

The launch expands Dacia’s electrified lineup, adding a second all‑wheel‑drive hybrid option alongside the existing LPG‑compatible Hybrid‑G 150 4×4.
