Dacia Maraini to receive 2026 Tonino Guerra Prize

Writer Dacia Maraini has been named the recipient of the 2026 Tonino Guerra Prize. The award ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, November 7, at the Cinema Fulgor in Rimini, Italy.

The event is part of a three-day program running from November 6 to November 8, involving the locations of Santarcangelo di Romagna and Pennabilli, which were central to the life and work of the late poet and screenwriter Tonino Guerra. The program will include meetings, screenings, and discussions exploring the connections between Maraini’s work and cinema, as well as her relationship to Guerra’s cultural legacy.

Presided over by journalist and film critic Laura Delli Colli, the prize was established by Andrea Guerra and the board of the Museo Centro Studi Tonino Guerra. Maraini is recognized as a major voice in contemporary Italian literature, with works spanning narrative, poetry, theater, essays, and film that have been translated into more than 22 languages.
