Dacia plans 2027 launch of Hipster electric micro-van for under 11,000 euros

Dacia is preparing to launch the production version of its ‘Hipster’ electric micro-van in 2027. The vehicle is expected to have a starting price of approximately 11,000 euros (around 9,500 pounds in the UK).

Designed as an L7e category light vehicle, the Hipster will be subject to specific technical constraints, including a maximum weight of 450 kilograms without the battery, a top speed of 90 km/h, and a power output limited to 15 kW (20 hp). To minimize costs, the manufacturer intends to reuse components such as the motor, battery, and chassis from the previous Dacia Spring model. The vehicle is expected to feature a 15 kWh battery.

Reports indicate that production will take place in Shiyan, China, at a plant operated by a joint venture involving Renault, Dongfeng, and Nissan. By classifying the vehicle as an L7e light vehicle rather than a standard M1 passenger car, Dacia may avoid certain EU tariffs on electric vehicles imported from China.
