Dacia plans mass production of affordable Hipster electric vehicle
Dacia is reportedly preparing for the mass production of the Hipster, a small electric vehicle based on a concept revealed last year. The production model is expected to launch as early as 2027, with manufacturing potentially taking place at the company's facility in Xi'an, China.
Designed for urban environments, the Hipster falls into the European L7e category for light quadricycles. It is highly compact, measuring approximately 3 meters in length, 1.55 meters in width, and 1.54 meters in height. To maintain its low price point—estimated to be under 11,500 euros or 10,000 pounds—the vehicle will feature simplified designs, such as manual windows and a more basic rear door compared to the concept.
The vehicle is designed to be a lightweight alternative to larger, more complex electric cars. It has a maximum weight limit of 450 kilograms excluding the battery and is expected to feature a battery capacity of around 15 kWh. Technical specifications for the L7e class include a maximum motor power of 15 kW and a top speed of 90 km/h. Despite its small size, the interior is designed to accommodate four passengers with a luggage capacity ranging from 70 to 500 liters depending on seat configuration.
