Dacia unveils second-generation Spring electric city car

Dacia has unveiled the second generation of its Spring electric city car, marking a significant shift from its predecessor. Built on the Renault Group’s RG-EV Small platform, the new model will be manufactured in Novo Mesto, Slovenia, rather than China.

The updated vehicle is larger, measuring 3.85 meters in length and 1.74 meters in width. It offers improved interior space and a boot capacity of 337 liters, which expands to 1,283 liters with the rear seats folded. Technical upgrades include an 80 hp (60 kW) electric motor producing 175 Nm of torque, enabling a 0–100 km/h acceleration in 12.1 seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h.

Equipped with a 27.5 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, the Spring provides a WLTP-rated range of up to 250 km. Charging options include a 50 kW DC fast charge, capable of reaching 15% to 80% in approximately 28 minutes.

Dacia aims to maintain its position as one of Europe’s most affordable electric vehicle providers, with European pricing starting at 17,900 euros and reaching 19,500 euros for the top trim. The model is expected to begin deliveries in early 2027.
