Dacia unveils second-generation Spring electric city car

Dacia has unveiled the second generation of its Spring, a fully electric city car built on the Renault Group’s RGEV small platform. This new model marks a significant shift in production, moving from China to the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. This European manufacturing approach allows the vehicle to avoid import tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles and qualify for various regional subsidy programs.

The new Spring is larger than its predecessor, measuring 3.85 meters in length and 1.74 meters in width. It features a more robust design with a higher hood and pronounced wheel arches. Inside, the cabin includes a 7.0-inch digital instrument cluster, with higher trims offering a 10.1-inch touchscreen multimedia system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Performance specifications include a 60 kW (80 hp) motor producing 175 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 12.1 seconds and a top speed of 130 km/h. The vehicle is equipped with a 27.5 kWh LFP battery. The trunk capacity is 337 liters, expandable to 1,283 liters with the rear seats folded.
