Dacia unveils second-generation Spring electric compact car

Dacia has unveiled the second generation of its Spring compact electric vehicle, marking a strategic shift in production from China to Europe. The new model will be manufactured at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia using the Renault Group’s ‘RG-EV Small’ platform.

Measuring 3.85 meters in length, the new Spring is designed for urban mobility with a turning radius of 4.95 meters. It features a 27.5 kWh LFP battery providing a WLTP range of up to 250 km. The motor delivers 60kW (approximately 82 hp), allowing for a top speed of 130 km/h and an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 12.1 seconds.

Charging capabilities include a standard 6.6 kW AC charger, with an optional ‘Charge Pack’ that adds a 50 kW DC fast charger, capable of reaching 15% to 80% charge in 28 minutes. The vehicle is expected to enter the market in the second half of 2026, with deliveries beginning in early 2027. Pricing in Switzerland is expected to start around 16,790 Swiss francs.
