Dadan Island hosts maritime sports carnival to promote Kinmen tourism

The ‘Brave Dadan Island Maritime Front Sports Carnival’ launched on October 9 at Kinmen's Shuitou Pier. The three-day event, running until October 11, aims to transform the former military frontline into a destination for sports and tourism.

Organized by the Ministry of Sports and the Kinmen Water Recreation Development Association, the festival combines maritime voyages, island hiking, battlefield missions, and survival games. Participants engage with Dadan Island’s unique military history through immersive experiences at various historical sites, including the Dadan Broadcasting Station and various military outposts.

The initiative seeks to leverage Kinmen's rare battlefield heritage and marine resources to extend tourist stays and encourage repeat visits. Local businesses, including Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Co., Ltd., are supporting the event to boost regional tourism through cross-sector cooperation between government, private teams, and local industries.
