D’Addario admits use of generative AI in product demo video

D’Addario has admitted that generative AI was used to create a recent promotional video for its NYXL HD electric guitar strings. The company confirmed that Suno Studio was used to regenerate the original track, reversing previous denials regarding the use of AI-generated music.

Following scrutiny from the guitar community, D’Addario stated it had been provided with inaccurate information regarding the track's origin. The company also addressed its previous handling of social media feedback, admitting that it had incorrectly moderated comments by deleting criticism.

Moving forward, D’Addario announced new policies requiring employees and creative partners to disclose any use of generative AI. The company emphasized its commitment to human creativity, stating, “Music is made by people – their ears, hands, taste, and emotions.”
