Daedeok-gu hosts series of community village festivals

Six neighborhoods in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon, held a series of community-led village festivals on October 16 and 17. The events were organized by local resident autonomy committees and various community groups to foster neighborhood connections.

Specific celebrations included the ‘Siwol-ae’ festival in Jungni-dong, which featured percussion and line dance performances, and the ‘You, Me, Us All Together’ festival in Beop 1-dong, which drew approximately 2,000 participants. Other events included the 6th Daehwa-dong Eoullim Hanmadang, the 9th Seokbong-dong Happy Village Festival held at a pink muhly ecological park, the 8th Songchon-dong Village Festival featuring traditional folk games, and the 18th Birae-dong Village Festival themed around ‘goblin’ characters.

Each festival offered diverse programs such as singing contests, local talent shows, food markets, and hands-on experience booths. Local officials noted that these resident-prepared events serve to strengthen the village community through voluntary participation and communication.
