Daedong AI tractor designated as new technology agricultural machine

Daedong’s AI tractor, the HX1400-AI, has been designated as a ‘New Technology Agricultural Machine’ by the Rural Development Administration. This recognition highlights the machine’s ‘Vision AI-based Level 4 autonomous driving tractor platform,’ which utilizes cameras and AI processors to recognize and analyze farmland, implements, and obstacles.

Unlike traditional autonomous machinery that relies on GNSS for fixed-path driving, this technology allows the tractor to autonomously map field boundaries, generate work paths, and stop when detecting obstacles or abnormal situations. Daedong is developing the machine as a ‘Software-Defined Evolving Tractor’ (SDT), utilizing Over-the-Air (OTA) updates to improve AI models and add autonomous functions after purchase.

The technology was developed using over 5 million data points. Currently, the HX1400-AI is being used by professional farmers and agricultural corporations for tasks such as plowing, harrowing, and ridging. Designation as a new technology machine provides benefits including preferential purchasing by local governments and public institutions, as well as government subsidies and loan support.
