Daegu and Gyeongbuk to train 3,000 specialists in AI and semiconductors

Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do have been selected for the Ministry of Education’s ‘Super-regional Growth Engine Talent Cultivation Project.’ This initiative aims to train 3,000 specialists in physical AI-based semiconductor materials, components, and equipment, as well as AI manufacturing robots over the next four years.

Led by Kumoh National Institute of Technology, the project involves eight regional universities, including Keimyung University, DGIST, and POSTECH. The program seeks to integrate the academic and industrial sectors by establishing a ‘One-Team’ operating system, linking curricula across universities, and creating a unified employment zone to encourage local settlement.

Additionally, Daegu is participating in a separate super-regional project focused on AI-based advanced biotechnology. This collaboration spans Daegu, Chungnam, and Gyeonggi provinces, involving Dankook University and Keimyung University. The goal is to build a full-cycle talent cultivation system by combining Chungnam’s process development, Daegu’s clinical verification, and Gyeonggi’s AI and data capabilities. This project aims to train 2,600 convergence-type specialists.
