Daegu dental leaders seek National Institute of Dental Research
Dental and academic representatives from the Daegu and Gyeongbuk regions met with Lee Man-hee, Chairman of the National Assembly's Health and Welfare Committee, to request support for hosting the National Institute of Dental Research in Daegu.
The delegation emphasized Daegu's comprehensive dental industry ecosystem, which spans research, clinical application, production, and export. Key strengths cited include the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Medical Innovation Complex, which houses 12 national institutions, and the presence of 43 dental-related companies, including major firms like Megagen Implant and Dentis. The region also boasts high rankings in dental medical device exports outside the capital area.
To facilitate immediate development, the group highlighted a 11,660 square meter site in Dong-gu, Dongnae-dong, which is ready for construction and offers excellent accessibility via Dongdaegu Station and Daegu International Airport. The representatives called for a fair and transparent public bidding process to ensure the institute is established in the most optimal location to enhance global competitiveness and regional balanced development.
