Daegu Gunwi Elementary School hosts AI-driven nutrition program
The Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education hosted the ‘2026 Visiting Nutrition Experience Center’ at Daegu Gunwi Elementary School, involving 197 students and their parents. The program is designed to provide experiential nutrition and dietary education, moving beyond theoretical learning to help students make healthy food choices through hands-on activities.
Students participated in various themed booths tailored to their developmental stages. Older students (grades 3–5) utilized tablets for an ‘AI Nutrition Bot’ mission to learn nutritional information and examined actual food labels to understand sugar content. Younger students (grades 1–2) engaged in play-based activities, such as making vegetable keyrings and practicing mealtime etiquette through traditional games like pounding rice cakes.
Other activities included vegetable cooking, exploring the sensory aspects of food, and learning about the environmental impact of food waste. The program also included sessions for parents to learn how to maintain healthy eating habits at home. Kang Eun-hee, Superintendent of the Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education, stated that the office will continue to support experiential nutrition education to empower children to practice healthy lifestyles.
