Daegu hosts Korea-Japan Economic Exchange Conference after 13 years

Daegu hosted the 22nd Korea-Japan (Hokuriku) Economic Exchange Conference from October 21 to 24, marking the first time the event has been held in the city since 2013. The four-day summit brought together approximately 120 participants, including local government officials, institutions, and business leaders from both South Korea and Japan.

The conference focused on expanding economic cooperation in future new industries, specifically targeting mobility, robotics, and artificial intelligence (AI). Participants shared case studies regarding regional revitalization policies and growth industries. The event was held in conjunction with the 2026 Future Innovation Technology Expo (FIX 2026) to showcase the region's industrial capabilities.

Japanese delegations visited local companies, such as Sambo Motors and Daesung Hi-Tech, to observe advanced manufacturing technologies. The summit was co-hosted by the South Korean Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Japan Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, alongside various regional economic federations.
