Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho Secures National Budget Support for Key Projects
Daegu Mayor Choo Kyung-ho met with Planning and Budget Minister Park Hong‑geun to request that ten priority projects be reflected in the upcoming national budget. The proposals cover the Daegu‑Gyeongbuk integrated new airport and its required relocation for security reasons, financial assistance for delays, AI and robotics industry development, a national musical complex, and expansion of metropolitan rail and highway infrastructure.
Mayor Choo emphasized that the new airport is a national security task and that balanced regional development requires strong central funding. He also highlighted the need for financing mechanisms to offset project‑related costs and to bolster South Korea’s future competitiveness in AI and robotics. The mayor pledged to closely monitor each initiative to ensure they are incorporated into the government’s budget plan.
