Daegu Mayor Chu Kyung-ho outlines economic restructuring and regional integration

Daegu Mayor Chu Kyung-ho has emphasized a citizen-centric and performance-based approach to budget execution. During a recent leadership meeting, Chu stated that the budget belongs to the citizens and should prioritize their most urgent needs, focusing on objective indicators such as employment rates, youth jobs, and investment to measure administrative success.

In a recent interview, Chu expressed full support for the integration of Daegu and Gyeongbuk, arguing that current administrative boundaries limit regional competitiveness. He outlined a vision for a major economic restructuring of Daegu, aiming to transform the city into a hub for high-tech industries including AI, robotics, future mobility, bio, and semiconductors through AI transformation (AX).

Additionally, the city is planning environmental improvements for the Sincheon river area, specifically targeting the downstream section near Chilseong Bridge to create better waterfront spaces for citizens. Chu was also recognized by the Manifesto Practice Institute for excellence in his election campaign promises.
