Daegu Police report decrease in crime and accidents during Chuseok holiday

The Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency reported a successful implementation of its comprehensive public safety measures during the Chuseok holiday period. From September 17 to 27, the agency focused on enhancing perceived safety through increased patrols and crime prevention diagnostics.

During this 11-day period, daily 112 emergency calls decreased by 8.1% compared to the same period last year. Traffic safety also saw significant improvements, with the daily average number of traffic accidents dropping by 53% and injuries decreasing by 56% compared to the previous year's holiday period.

Police activities included deploying an average of 1,349 personnel daily, conducting over 1,100 crime prevention inspections in vulnerable areas, and monitoring cases of domestic and relationship-based violence to prevent escalation.
