Daegu universities drive regional growth through industry ties and AI-driven student support

Universities in Daegu are expanding their roles to support regional growth and the integration of foreign residents. Daegu Science University is implementing an 'Anchor' project to connect education, industry, and local settlement. The university has established new departments such as Smart Mobility and Global Care to meet regional industrial demands and is strengthening industry-academic cooperation through projects like the 'JA Professor System' and capstone designs. Additionally, the university is providing comprehensive support for international students, covering everything from admission to employment and local adaptation.

In a separate initiative to aid foreign integration, students from Keimyung College University and three other vocational colleges have used generative AI to create multilingual traffic safety educational content. Developed in collaboration with Daegu City and the Daegu Metropolitan Police Agency, the content includes animations and short-form videos covering driving licenses, personal mobility safety, and accident response. The materials feature subtitles in six languages, including English, Vietnamese, and Uzbek, to help international students and workers navigate Korean traffic laws more easily.
