Daegu universities partner to expand technology startup education

Nine universities in the Daegu region have formed a collaborative initiative to expand startup education and support technology-based entrepreneurship. During the first University Startup Support Council (DRIVE) meeting held at Suseong University, representatives from institutions including Kyungpook National University, Keimyung University, and Suseong University discussed the development of joint startup curricula.

A key component of this collaboration is the ‘New Industry Technology Entrepreneur Cultivation’ program. This initiative aims to select approximately 10 teams of undergraduate and graduate students to refine business ideas and verify marketability. The program will categorize participants into domestic-focused teams and international-focused teams.

Selected teams will receive comprehensive support, including customer validation training using the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps methodology, funding for minimum viable product (MVP) production, expert mentoring, and market verification. The goal is to foster talent capable of settling and growing within the local Daegu economy.
