Daejeon City launches 1.8 trillion‑won loan package for local SMEs
Daejeon City announced a 1.8 trillion‑won (≈1800 billion KRW) loan program for small‑ and medium‑size enterprises (SMEs) in the second half of 2026. The funding is allocated as follows: 1 trillion won for a general management‑stability loan, 400 billion won for region‑specific guarantee schemes with the Credit Guarantee Fund and banks, 250 billion won for startup and competitiveness projects, and 150 billion won for purchase‑condition production support.
The city added preferential interest‑rate eligibility for large donor firms classified as “Na‑num‑myeong‑mun” and companies certified by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family as family‑friendly. An agreement with IBK Industrial Bank, signed on 20 May, allows firms applying through the bank to receive an additional interest‑rate reduction of up to 1 per cent.
Applications open on 27 May via the Daejeon Job and Economy Promotion website. Eligible firms are local manufacturers with at least 30 % of the workforce in production or related services with 50 % employment in production. City corporate‑support director Kwon Kyung‑min said the expanded program builds on the successful first‑half‑year rollout and aims to strengthen the region’s economic vitality.
