Daejeon designates ‘Saitgil’ as 13th private garden

Daejeon has officially designated ‘Saitgil’ as the city’s 13th private garden. This new site utilizes old residential houses in the old downtown area, breaking down walls to organically connect buildings with outdoor spaces to create a unified garden environment.

The garden features unique landscapes, including a water space centered around a pond and 31 stepping stones, as well as a bamboo forest path made of black bamboo. To enhance the visitor experience, the site has introduced a ‘garden stay’ concept, allowing guests to stay overnight and immerse themselves in the environment.

Daejeon has been actively registering private gardens since 2022 to expand garden culture and provide citizens with accessible green spaces. To support existing gardens, the city has provided approximately 5,000 seasonal flower seedlings from Hanbat Arboretum to improve garden quality and seasonal aesthetics.
