Daejeon Education Superintendent announces 10 core future policies

Daejeon Superintendent of Education Oh Seok-jin marked his 100th day in office by announcing a comprehensive roadmap titled ‘10 Core Policies’ for future education. The plan focuses on five major policy directions aimed at fostering student growth and modernizing school environments.

Key initiatives include the introduction of the ‘Daejeon Edu Card,’ a voucher system designed to alleviate financial burdens by providing entrance support funds for new students and living education expenses for current students. Additionally, the office will provide support for high school seniors' dinner costs starting in the second half of next year.

To modernize learning, the office is establishing a ‘Future Education Promotion Team’ to lead AI and digital education, aiming to make Daejeon a hub for AI-based learning. The plan also includes the establishment of international middle and high schools to cultivate global talent.

Regarding teacher support, the office has launched a ‘one-stop’ support system through the newly created ‘Education Activity Protection Officer’ to assist with legal, psychological, and administrative issues related to protecting educational rights. The roadmap also emphasizes strengthening student welfare through integrated support centers for those facing economic or psychological crises.
